Few building blocks to learn, infinite ways to put them together
Instead of every kind of data having its own isolated tool get everything together in one collaborative and interconnected workspace
Separate tools. You connect the dots. One workspace. All the context.
Files, mail and connected services share file-based access. Hyperbob uses those interfaces to work across them and build live apps on the same data.
Documents and apps remain useful after the chat.
Bring files, mail and connected services into the same workspace. They keep their own formats; Hyperbob gets a common way to reach them.
Ask for an outcome, not a series of hand-offs. Hyperbob reads the sources, uses the available tools and prepares the work for you to review.
The page Hyperbob builds lives beside your other work. You can inspect it, change it and let it read from the same files and services.
The files, drafts and apps remain after the conversation. Update the source data and the page can use it again, without rebuilding the workflow.
Bring your work and everyday tasks together. Let Hyperbob help automate the routine, and adapt your tools as your needs change.
What if a change doesn’t work out?You can return your workspace to an earlier checkpoint and try again. This won’t undo emails already sent or actions taken in connected services.
Join the waiting listYou’ve probably got a few ideas already. And a few questions. Let’s start with those.
Ask something elseNo. Tell Hyperbob what you need and ask it to build it. You can keep asking for changes, or open the code and make them yourself.
Can other people use my apps?Yes. Publish an app and send someone the link. The app controls what visitors can see and change.
Will sharing an app share my files too?Publishing an app doesn’t publish your home folder. But if the app shows private data, it needs rules for who can see that data.
Can I use outside services?Yes. Email and the browser already reach outside your workspace. Other services need a compatible connector and your permission before Hyperbob can use them. Once connected, apps and agents can work with them too.
No. Hyperbob and your apps can work with the same files and connected services. The apps you build are live documents, so they can keep using your data after the conversation ends.
What does "everything is a file" mean here?A file can be more than something you save. It can also let an app read a web page, give a service an instruction, or follow what’s changing. Hyperbob uses this shared pattern to work across your workspace.
Does every tool understand every other tool? Not automatically. They share a way to connect, but each tool still has its own commands and data formats. An app or agent still needs to work with those differences to get the job done.
Is hyperbob9 running Plan 9?No. hyperbob9 runs on Linux. It uses Plan 9's ideas about file interfaces and namespaces, and its services use the 9P protocol. We are working on a project to bring Linux userland to Plan9 though.
